Data-Driven Guide to Montenegro Hotels

Booking sites are built to sell rooms, not to help you compare them. Page one is mostly paid placements and the same dozen hotels, and Montenegro has more than 450. Plenty of the good ones never show up there.

I'm from here, and I built hotelsmontenegro.me to make that search less painful. Every hotel I could verify is in the directory, with what guests said about it, how far it is from the airports, and where it sits on the coast.

What's on every hotel page

Each listing follows the same layout, so comparing two properties doesn't mean hunting for the same detail twice.

  • 30-Second Verdict: A short read on what the place is really like. The summaries are written from guest reviews - the hotel's own marketing copy never goes in.
  • What Guests Love & The Heads-Up: The compliments and the complaints that keep coming up in reviews, side by side.
  • Getting There: Distance and driving time from the airports most guests fly into, in kilometers and minutes.
  • The Basics: Stars, amenities, and a map.

The lists

The database is split into lists with published rules. Each one states what qualifies, so a missing hotel means it missed the cutoff rather than that I overlooked it.

  • The 313 Best Hotels in Montenegro: Everything with at least 100 guest reviews and a score of 4.0 or better, ranked by that score.
  • All 37 Five-Star Hotels: The international chains - Regent Porto Montenegro, The Chedi Luštica Bay, Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay - plus smaller places like Heritage Grand Perast.
  • The 36 Best Luxury Stays:Five-star hotels and the stronger four-star boutiques, filtered to 4.5 and up from at least 100 reviews.
  • 65 Beachfront Hotels:Hotels sitting directly on the Adriatic or the Bay of Kotor, with nothing between the property and the water.
  • 8 All-Inclusive Resorts:Iberostar Waves Bellevue in Budva, Azul Beach in Ulcinj, and the rest of the country's all-inclusive options.

Browse by town

Most of the rooms are on the coast, but the towns are different enough that one national list isn't much use. Budva is long beaches and nightlife, Kotor is a walled old town at the end of a bay, and the north is mountains.

  • Kotor:Boutique hotels in and around the UNESCO-listed bay, with mountains rising straight out of the water.
  • Podgorica:The capital — business hotels and a practical base for the north.
